hello beautiful

so nothing much has been happening the last few days, but i will give you a brief overview anyway. thursday: school and knowledge bowl practice. friday: school today: no school nothing much else either

but anyway recently i have been reminded of one of the wacky things i hvae done and its a pretty good story that i sorta shared with three people today so i though since nothing else was going on in my life i would share it with the rest of you.

it was easter break multiple years ago, i am not sure what year it was. i think it was 7th grade. i know it was before ninth grade.

background info: back at that time i was drastically addicted to caffine in the form of Mt. Dew. the summer before my 8th grade year i drank 8 44oz. of mt dew a day and slept about 2 hours every two days.

anyway, easter break i had nothing to do and decided in the great wisdom of my 7th grade mind that it would be cool to see how long i could stay up. it was not that hard to stay up with the help of my good friend brian who was the assistant manager of M&H, he gave me free pop. so i woke up wednesday morning at the usual time and went to school that was our last day of the week. that would be the last of my sleep for a very long time. i would spend the days in the normal manner, doing normal 7th grade boy things, like playing with friends and what not. during the night i would watch tv. not to much was on because i didn't (and still don't) have cable. so only pbs and nbc went all night long. i aslo played video games. i managed to stay awake all easter break. i finally went to bed on sunday night knowing that i would have to go to school the next day. the last time i looked at the clock before i went to sleep was 11:26. i had been awake for 135 hours and 56 minutes. that is my personal record.

when i was at school on monday and told some people about my easter adventures i learned that once you have been with out sleep for 3 days you are legally insane and can halucinate. that made some things make more sense. you see one night while i was playing mortal combat on the good old sega genesis the normal characters moved off to the side and big bird and ernie took their spots. it was really odd but i thought i had just unlocked some secret in the game. also on pbs late at night they had a version of jesus christ superstar on and i thought i was really cool. i have never been able to find the version that i saw that night.

those are the only two halucinations i know about but that is the point of halucinations. you don't know they aren't real. who knows what else i saw that wasn't there.

yeah that was my craziest easter break ever.

follow up: later that year i found out the dangers of caffine poisoning (litteraly throwing up your innerds) and gradually worked myself of of mt. dew. you can't wuit cold turkey because you get severe headaches for three days. the more addicted you are the more severe they are so therefore mine were really bad. i gradually got off of caffine and didn't drink it at all for a while. i drink caffinated pop agian but am no longer addicted and no longer drink that much.

thats all i have for today

QUESTION: what is the longest you have ever gone without sleep?

  1. That is in and totally not sane. Why would you even want to do that? The longest I've stayed up is only about 20 hours.

  3. um....lets see from 10am friday morning to last night at 10pmish. so that would be like 36 hours. i think i tried sleeping but it didn't work so i might have only rested like 45 mins at the most.

  4. Well my big non sleeping situation is not impressive. I get really crabby and loopey with no sleep and then I usually take a long nap or something because its no fun being crabby and people laugh at my loopyness and its just bad situation. Anyway I've probably gone like a day with no sleep if that. Yes its sad. Andy

  5. I don't know what the longest time is that I have gone without any sleep, at least 24 hours. It just isn't something that I have tried to keep track of. But holy crap Thomas. What were you thinking?!
