everyonce in a while someone would say, the yellow is hard to read, i
never really believed them cause i can read it fine on my computer.

Why an Apple?

            At some
point in our lives we have all seen a visual portrayal of the story of Adam,
Eve, and the Fruit. When we picture this story what does the fruit look like -
an apple. Why does everyone depict the fruit as an apple? Are there hints in
the bible that link it to a specific fruit?
            When
approaching this topic, first we need to see what the Bible has to say. Genesis
3 tells us of “the fall of man.” When we first read of the forbidden fruit in
verse 2, we learn that the fruit grows on trees, specifically the tree in the
middle of the garden. I don’t know what type of tree that was. The fact that
the tree is in the middle does not help specify what fruit the fruit was.
However, the fact that it is on a tree does narrow the possibilities. Now we
have eliminated things that grow on a bush or a vine, such as berries, grapes,
and watermelons.
            Verse 6
says that the fruit is “good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also
desirable for gaining wisdom.” So we know the fruit was good looking. I have
seen some ugly fruit, smashed bananas and that sort of thing, but I have never
thought of a particular kind of fruit being unsightly. You will never hear me
say “I don’t eat oranges because they are hideous.” Perhaps the fact that it is
“desirable for gaining wisdom” can narrow our search. Every time you see an
infomercial for a juicer they talk about the positive effects that fruits can
have on your mental astuteness.
            The main
way I know fruit affects brain activity is the antioxidants. Antioxidants make
the brain run more efficiently. Perhaps the fruit in Genesis was high in
antioxidants. According to www.newstarget.com the fruits highest in
antioxidants are blueberries and blackberries. They however are not on a tree.
The highest antioxidant level (per serving) in a fruit that is on a tree is a
Red Delicious apple, followed closely by a Granny Smith apple. Perhaps the pictures
we always see of Eve holding a shiny red apple have some scientific basis. Then
again some of the images are paintings going back to the period of the
renaissance. I don’t think they had knowledge of antioxidants and their
benefits back then, even if they did I doubt they had the ability to measure
them.
            After all
of this thinking on why the apple is how the fruit is pictured I can only think
of one reason. It’s the same reason I draw people from behind and not the
front. It’s easier. I can’t draw faces well, but I sure can draw the back of
someone’s head, so that’s what I do. My theory is that whoever made the first
famous depiction of the fruit was great at drawing apples, maybe even awful at
drawing bananas. Everyone after that kept the tradition and kept Eve holding an
apple.

thats it. it had to be 300-500 words. i think it is exactly 500... i had to cut it down from like 534 or something...

well so jonathan is married now. so i have a sister-in-law. sort of.
being that he is not really a brother i am not sure if she is really a
sister-in-law, but for all intents and purposes she is i guess.

wednesday we went out and got my suit and then to bakers square with grandma.

thursday was the rehersal and rehersal dinner. i didn't have to go to
the rehersal cause i was not in it so just the dinner for me. it was
pretty good. not as much food as i would like though. and most people
there were not people i knew. some i did know. got to see some old camp
people, AA and dave turner.

left the dinner and came to play some IM basketball. i am on the
caucasian invasion team. it was our 4th game. first time i played
because of my finger and i only played a little bit but... we lost
48-45 but that is the closest game we have ever had and the most points
we have ever gotten so we did pretty good. our record is 0-4 but we are
the team that has the most fun and has the most fans. so i think we
should win because of that.

friday was the wedding. pictures started at 5:15 so i had to get ready
before that, the do that. then mom wouldn't let me eat as to make it so
i can't spill on my suit. then the wedding thing went down. thats the
closest i have ever sat for a wedding.
reception afterwards. got to see some more people i knew. phil brown says i am his favorite. good stuff.

hors d'oeuvres we alright but i wanted more but i had to wait till
everyone else went through. i thinki ended up going throught the line 4
times or something like that. helped load all the presents into a van
after they left, that was a lot of presents. maybe i should get married
then i will get stuff.... maybe i will wait. but if you want to give me
stuff you can.

saturday and sunday did the normal weekend things. lazing around,
church, hanging out, you know. today i have a test in OT and then
tomorrow i have class and then i come home for turkey.

thats the big news of the last days of recent.

i am sick

i have a really bad sore throat, its not good

went to david crowder, shane and shane, and ronnie seay concert last
night here at NWC. its so fun having concerts here. the lights etc was
not as huge as the jeremy camp concert was,. only 16 motion lights was
all for ronnie seay and shane and shane, then added 6 mini cannons for
crowder so shine on band and DC. it was good. the only thing that would
have made it better was if i was not horribly sick

i would have gone to bed early last night but then i had a test today,
the study session was last night so then i had to get the answers from
that and study for a little bit. not to long. i could have studied more
last night but i thought sleeping would be a better investment. went to
bed at 1

woke up today at 9:15 showered. went to chapel early and studied there
before it started. then listened in chapel. studied more right before
test. took the test. was done in 17 minutes. i think that is the
longest i have taken on western civ test yet. 50 multiple choice 30
matching 5 short answer.

then i ate lunch, didn't eat much because i am sick. its no good.blah

tonight i am going to get my suit. got a new suit saturday like a new
new suit. not from a thrift store or anything like normal. its really
nice. i get free alterations for life and free pressing for life. its a
good deal. they altered it and everything. picking it up and making
sure it fits tonight. its for jonothans wedding on friday, thursday is
the rehersal dinner. so that is taking up the rest of my nights for the
week.

ANSWER:no

"these are the guys that run the freaking olympics... we are not going to out run them"

let me think what were the major events of yesterday....

class, then food then played some games. then... oh yeah supper. after
went to the ocho and watch josh play some "in the shadow of the
colussus" or something like that its a sweet game. later came back to
knutson to play hall mini golf. that was fun each hall (there are 8)
made a hole and there was one in the stairwell. it was really great
fun. my strategy was to just hit it as hard as i can. it worked pretty
good. i used the back half of the club sometimes, i think that worked
better. it was great

other than that not much was going on. we watched one episode of 24.

not to much yesterday other than mini golf. it was a good time but not much to write about.

so far today was class. took a quiz. then ate dinner. it was good turkey and mashed potatoes. yummy.

have some things planned for later tonight but i will fill you in on those once they actually happen.

ANSWER:risk, darn stinkin right sam. ryan ben sam and other fm peeps a risk game may just be in order over thanksgiving break. sam 100 points.

QUESTION: what was my score in mini golf (par was 31)?

In God's Hands,
thomas kvamme

well its wednesday meaning i have western civ and OT today. monday
after western civ billington asked me not to crochet in class anymore
so i am not doing that now. but he does know who i am (he knew before
he asked me not to crochet)

billington is a pretty cool guy. his ancestor, john billington, was on
the mayflower. then he tried to blow up the mayflower.... then later
when someone came to collect some money from him, john shot him in the
face. he was then hung for murder. the first person hung in the "new
world"

anyways. yesterday i accidentally slept untill 1:45. missing both my
classes and chapel. i was supposed to help in chapel announcements
too... JJ was going to ask if anyone knew what holidays it was today.
she planted a few of us in the audience to yell out some days. my day
was x ray discovery day. whoops i missed that.

yesterday for supper was taco tuesday. we don't have tacos every
tuesday but when we do have them it is on a tuesday. i like tacos. i
had 18 tacos, 5 desserts, an ice cream, and 8 pops. it was good. i was
going to have 20 tacos but the last two the shells were stale, the meat
you could tell had been in a warmer for a long time, and the cheese
tasted funny. it wasn't worth it to eat them.

i forgot about room inspections last night too... well it wasn't so
much that i forgot but that i didn't realize what time it was. i
realized after 11 (inspections are at 10) so i walked really quickly to
my room. looked for jerry (my ra) and found he was at IM basketball, so
i cleaned my room quick (but good) and when he came back i showed him
and he said it was ok. so thats a good thing.

so last night i finally got my roommates and neighbor caught up on 24.
they were three episodes behind. three episodes minus time for
commercials equals 2 hours. got them started at 12:24 so i cam back at
2:24 and said "one more, one more." they were planning on going to bed
but i knew that could not happen. so i work and convinced them (with
the help of evan) i was working on convincing them and josh goes out of
the room (to do laundry i think) and i am convincing  the rest to
watch "one more" then josh comes back in and says "ok, i'm in" and with
that i was able to convince the others. so we watched another "hour"
(actually 40 minutes)

great guy bonding time

thats all folks.

ANSWER:good stories, 50 points to all who answered

QUESTION: what board game do i feel like playing right now?

In God's Hands,
thomas kvamme

well i said i would be back to updating like normal but i haven't in a
while. i have been busy, not really busy but i have been doing a bunch
of stuff.

friday was class, i started crocheting in western civ. i used to
crochet in class i was gonna start earlier this year but then i broke
myself so that didn't happen.

i can't remember what i did on friday night but i know it was something fun.

saturday woke up at noon for waffles. hosted by the loco ocho. pay a
dollar get some waffles. i paid 2 dollars cause i ate alot of waffles.
its a good time of hanging out and such.

wandered the halls all day untill 7:15 and went to "four brothers"
after i got back some of us were hanging out and somepeople were
playing ultimate spoons in the stucen and the spoons were in the upper
level. so me and a few other guys placed some major obsticles in their
way. like we covered a door with a table. completely. it was pretty fun.

woke up this morning at went to BPEFC with alex. she ended up talking
with one of the youth leaders just about the whole time so i sat by
myself but it was alright. david myles (some of you salem people should
remember him) is one of the pastors there and he was doing half the
message. he used the word "chillaxin" it was funny. he had to explain it

came back and did nothing all day. i have work to do before tuesday. i
don't wan't to do it tonight but i don't want to do it all tomorrow. so
if nothing is going on tonight i am going to do it tonight but if there
is anything fun then i will do it tomorrow. we will have to see.

i think its really funny when people guess who i like and are
completely wrong. and don't beleive me when i tell them no. it makes me
laugh.

ANSWER:i am gonna
have to go with sams answer as my favorite of the given ones. out of
the plausible ones it is the one i like the most. 75 points
