just got back from the midnight showing of...

CHRONICLES OF NARNIA:
THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE

I
think this could very well be the best movie i have ever seen. it is
amazing. it reminded me of hitchcock in the fact that you could take
any frame of the movie and it would be like a wonderfully composed
picture. The story is great, it stuck pretty close to the book. a few
things were a little different but nothing major. Its a great movie, i
recommend that you all go see it. i paid 10 dollars cause we saw it at
a big screen, it was great, it was definately worth it. there has never
been a movie i have seen twice in the theatres when it was new, i think
i will for this one. if anyone wants to see it together once i am home
i just might take you up on it.
5 out of 5 stars. maybe even 6 stars

whenever this comes out on dvd i am buying. no questions asked

go see it its great.
read it too.

In God's Hands,

  1. hmm... it was good. but not great.
and hold on with the hitchcock comparison... you're gettng ahead of yourself.
and did they blow their budget on the witches hair and the beavers that they couldn't find a green screen that wasn't from 1992?
for great film making, and something worthy of comparing to hitchcock go see capote.

  5. I saw Narnia last night with some folks from Salem. I thought the actress playing Lucy was exceptional. Integration of computer and live action was generally good, but I also noticed that some of the "green screen" scenes were not up to current standards. Worth viewing at matineee or lower prices. Century 10 in Fargo has it showing in two theatres, so starts are about every hour and fifteen minutes.
The story stayed close to the audio version I've been exposed to (haven't read the book). The main deviation our group caught was the quote from last Sunday's serman outline about Aslan not being _safe_, but good. The movie dialog is Aslan is not _tame_, but good. There's a good essay topic for our students of literature: What's the significance of the deviation?

  6. Mom and Dad hope to go see that movie soon. : )
Also, Dad might be looking for someone to drive out to PA with him and then they would fly that person back......interested?? If Jonathan and Glenda are coming back for the holidays you could try to fly with them.....hmm. Dad is checking with my uncles first, but will keep you in mind if you're interested.

  10. You'll have to watch the original after watching the recent version.  It was well played out like you said...even though Peter frustrated at certain times.  Mostly when he first fought the Witch's head wolf near *won't spoil*  I was amazed by the fact that I felt the power of God while watching the movie.
