Working this afternoon at the Smooth Grind

so i am working right now... coffee shops (at least this one) are pretty fun places to work. i can listen to the different people sitting and talking.

one group this morning was from a church and they were having a meeting about 2 missionaries they were supporting that go out and live with homeless people and witness to them and if they we be about to give enough support for the two people two and another two people to their team. i thought what do they need support for. they are being homeless...

another group one table away from them was talking about surrogate mothers and things.... i tried not to listen to that conversation. yuck.

the skate ladies are in now. they are regulars. nice old ladies who skate next door everyday and then come in for lunch together.

there is a table of three students from northwestern. i recognize them all but we don't know each other. one of the girls asked the boy how to spell traitor. he told he how to spell it, but none of them know he is wrong.

i just had to take a break from writing this to help what i assume to be a grandfather, mother, and baby girl. the lady and man were fighting over who was going to pay. both asking me to take their money. i went with the father because he had his out first. it reminded me of when my dad and grandpa fight over who gets the check. once my grandpa offered the waitress a hundred dollar tip if he got the bill, before we had even ordered. to bad these people didn't do that.

ok i might want to revise my grandfather, mother, baby theory... they are looking at a paper and he is giving corrections and things. he brought in the baby and i think she got the bottle out so who knows.

well thats what's happening in the land of the Smooth Grind.

  1. Don't worry.  We are still facebook friends.
Do you like coffee?  Do you smell like coffee when you are done working?  Will you ever be able to watch someone make your coffee again without analyzing what exactly goes into a drink?

  2. I actually don't like coffee or tea at all.  Hot chocolate is not too bad, but it has to be really high-quality hot chocolate for me to like it.  I am a fan of spiced hot apple cider, though.

  4. Hey, your site looks nice. I should work more on mine but I'm too busy at preschool. (Even though as soon as my parents pick me up and ask me what I did, I just say, "I don't know". They get funny when I do that.) Anyway. I loved this post. It's super fun.

  5. now that it's not happening, it was kinda fun.  It was pretty nervewracking and intense, but fun also.

  6. Thomas, you are the first person to figure out that I am willing to pay for people to read and comment on my Xanga site.  However, you only get the "two cents worth" once for each post you read.  You do, however, get one cent for every comment you leave.  That would bring your total to eight cents for today.

I picture you having lots of time on  your hands at a coffee shop. Like you've got the routine all figured out in like the first hour or so of working there, so in your spare time you plot things with that genius mind of yours. Andrea and I really need to talk to you about our plan for world domination. I can see you there, "Coffee for you, latte for you, double shot of espresso for you, and Paraguay for me." haha! I'd also like for you to begin work on the design of a ray gun to substantially warm the northern climes. Carry on! ~me
