have a good day?

so when i work i always say "have a good day" to people when i had them their drink or they finish paying (whichever is last) if they are taking it to go. but what do i say i say to those who are drinking it here? i need some help. "have a good day" is so much like a goodbye. i can't say it if they are staying.

i thought about (and even said) "i hope you like it" a few times., but thats a lie. i don't hope you like it. i made it. i know you'll like it.

and what to do with the fumblers. you know the people, get their coffee, get their change, i say "have a good day" and then they take 17 minutes to get their keys out of their purse, organize receipts in their wallet. if its busy  i can move on to helping whoever is next in line (even if its not busy, there only needs to be one more person) but when they are the only one getting help i feel obliged to stand there while they fumble. but do i have to? i already said my little goodbye. i normally find something near where i am standing to wipe up.

just put your crap in your pocket (or purse or whatever) and go. sit in your car and organize if its really that important to you.

thats my rants for today. i'm done. at least for now.

  1. quality rant. I don't know why some people must take the time to organize their wallets/purses while standing at the front of a line, especially after getting what they came to get. My theory would be that it is then, at that precise moment in time, that they are reminded of how much of a mess their wallet/purse is in.Perhaps you could give each person a compliment? Or encourage them to come back up and tell you what they thought of their drink? Or tell them you hope they find their time in your establishment relaxing?

  2. There's nothing worse than a fumbler!!  Or those people that feel the need to balance their checkbook before giving you any sort of currency.  So you just have to wait.yay for customer service!

  3. If I don't take time to organize my purse, there is a good chance I'll lose the receipt or even worse, my change from my purchase.
I really liked that scrubs quote.  That's a good one!

  4. For the people who are staying, I suggest a simple "Enjoy!"  or "Let me know if I can get you anything else."  That's what I do when I bring people their food at BWW.And I have a confession -- I'm a fumbler if I pay with cash.  Because I have to put the change in the little change part and the bills in the bill section.  Especially if I'm buying a drink, I'll have my hands full, I won't get another chance to put away my money and it'll get lost!  Which is why I pay with a card almost all of the time.  But as a fumbler, I don't think you should feel obligated to stand there while I fumble and if there's someone behind me, I prefer that you move on to them rather than make them wait while I fumble.  I try to get out of the way.

  5. no matter who it is or where, I always say have a nice day, because I'm either leaving their house, or hand them their food and go back to the back where I was, and stand around and do nothing, but they don't see me.  The one I have trouble with is if they're sitting at a table, dining inside.  I can't decide to ask them if they want something else or just say have a nice day.  normally don't have problems with people paying in the store, they just throw the cash down on the counter.BUT, when the delivery guy comes to YOUR house, and you're paying with a check, please write it out right after you get off the phone with the pizza place.  That way when he gets there, you can hand him the check and he hands you the pizza, and not have to wait for your husband to find the checkbook, hold the dog back, yell to you to come and find it because he can't, then the dog gets out because I kicked it in the face while you weren't looking, then you finally find it and have to come back because you forgot how much the total was.  It would be a lot easier if you didn't have a dog, and you had the check written in the first place. And no, I don't have a credit card swiper in my car.  Nobody does.ha, there's MY rant.t
