home, heat, and health

home is... lots of little phrases tell us what home is where- the heart is, you lay your head, happy memories grow...
but here are my new ones.
home is where you know where the light switches are. and what they all do.
home is where you can wake up in the middle of the night and go get a drink without having to turn on any lights cause you know where everything is.
home is knowing home many steps there are down the stairs, and that the last one is taller than the rest so you don't trip on it.

last week i burned my arm on a pizza oven, the burn is like 6 inches long. at first it wasn't that bad. bumped the pizza oven "that was hot" i thought to myself. didn't really think to much about it. then it kept hurting more and more and the burn started to slowly show up. still it wasn't that bad, til i tripped walking up the stairs and my arm rubbed against the wall and all the freshly burnt skin got pealed off. then it really started to hurt. now its mostly better. here's hoping it turns into a sweet scar. chicks dig scars.

i've been sick for about 3 weeks now. first a sore throat thing going on.  that was about to be better then i started getting a cold. now i have all the symptoms on the bottle of "severe cold" medicine. so sick i went to bed before nine last night. still sick today but ultimate frisbee is tonight so hopefully that will help... isn't the phrase "starve a fever, run the crap out of a cold."
and once i am better i won't get sick for the rest of the year. get sick once a year. thats how i roll. for at least 5 years now.

update:
pedometer count from about 10 this morning when i woke up until 10 this evening when frisbee started. 4064
pedometer count from 10 this evening until 11 when frisbee was over 5944.
over half my steps for the day in one hour.

  3. Burns on the arm.....oh Thomas. I feel a certain pride. Not in your injury, but in your ability to take the pain. :) Oh pedometers. I like them. I find them kind of addicting. I'd find myself walking extra steps before bed, just to get to a certain number. Stiches....I've had 3....on the bottom of my foot. Home is definitely where you can get up in the middle of the night and get a drink without turning on the lights. It is also where you can be sick in the middle of the night and not try to hide it. I miss you! ~me
